Assateague Md quahog clam shell trinket dish
This is a Quahog clam shell that Dan collected recently while we were at Assateague National Seashore. It gives the teacup design a completely different feel — almost like a little vintage tea saucer in your hand
I loved the natural lavender tones on the rim of this shell, so rather than covering, I left much of it exposed and let the resin deepen and bring out the color that was already there.
I used watercolor pencils to add detailing depth throughout the design—outlined the cup, detailed the spoon and added some steam, then finished it with the lavender embellishment along the top.
I love working with the natural colors and markings instead of covering them up.
They become part of the finished piece — and this little clam shell was too pretty not to let some of it show. 🫖🟣
