Apple Picking | 5-6” Embellished Dish With Stand

Apple Picking 🍎

This one started with a beautiful natural oyster shell collected at Assateague National Seashore. At approximately 5–6 inches, it gave me plenty of room to play with the design and add some of my own details.

I used watercolor pencils and acrylic paint to bring the apple-picking scene to life, extending the grass and greenery by hand and adding individually placed rhinestones for just a little sparkle. I finished everything under a high-gloss resin and added a gold-leaf rim and decorative gold feet.

I love that you can still see the natural shape and texture of the oyster underneath it all — part artwork, part little piece of the coast.
